Catalyst’s unique blur effects are fun and beautiful to look at. However, due to their complexity, it can cause a significant lag on some devices. This is why the blur effect is disabled by default.

Enable the Blur Effect

You first need to enable the Editor mode . Then, go to the favorites page and tap the screenshot icon on the top left.

You will see the Background Blur dialog appear with multiple options like this:

Tap on Enable blur to enable it. You will see a white background on the favorites page. That's because the blur effect is not automatic, so we have to give it a screenshot of your home screen’s page 2 (the first page of the home icons) to make it work.

I've made this a simple 3-step process that you can follow using the helper wizard.

Use the Helper Wizard

Enable the Editor mode again and go back to the Background Blur dialog just like we did earlier. Only this time, choose Help me pick to launch the helper wizard.

You will be immediately instructed step-by-step to take a screenshot and pick it. Make sure to read the next dialog on page 2 and follow the steps correctly.

Once you've taken a screenshot and picked it, you will see the blur effect in action when you scroll back to the favorites page.
